His paintings concern themselves with forces that are felt before they are seen. His canvases do not describe the natural world as much as they attempt to capture the energies that animate it: the momentum of wind, the shifting quality of light, the rhythmic persistence of water. Working with sweeping, gestural movements, he builds layered textures of considerable density in which the act of painting is visibly present. What emerges is a body of work that functions as something close to a meditative space, holding open a sustained encounter with the invisible forces that shape the conditions of experience.
